Mural – Installation plans

21st Nov 2019

The following email letter was sent to OxVox members on 20 November 2019.

A further brief update on the Mural project.

Firstly a big thank you to everyone for your patience with this project. I realise from the outside it may appear like there is a lot of inactivity on this but I can assure you that a lot of people are putting in many hours of work to get this project over the line.

As we draw nearer to the fitting of the Mural we have been looking at the best date to unveil and after consulting the club we have decided to go for the home game with Wycombe on Saturday 21st of December. They have some great plans underway for the Man City game and we were happy to step back from our original plan to unveil then and go with what should be a big crowd against our local rivals from up the road.

With the graphics and printing side tied up some time ago we have been working hard on a few other matters. Firoka have been incredibly supportive of this project but understandably want to make sure all legal and safety sides are covered so the last few weeks and days have been spent ensuring public liability, method statements and various other small but time consuming issues are dealt with. These issues have only been presented to us recently but they are quite right to ask for them and we are currently finalising a legal document they asked us to sign.

We have been incredibly lucky on this project to have not only the fabulously generous backing of the fans financially, but also the support of several companies who have stepped up to offer us help. We now add Gary Baker at the HMG Law office in Bicester, who stepped in last minute to offer legal services with regards to this contract, and Mike from Hello Design for his help with the design work. At the same time Paul from Acute Homes is giving of his time and resources writing up method statements and preparing to fit the mural for free. That and the generosity of Polythene UK has meant so much to us and we can’t thank them enough. We will keep you posted on any developments in the coming days but look forward to being able to confirm the Wycombe game in the coming the days.
