Notes of meeting between OxVox and OUFC on Thursday 25 January 2007
Present
Nick Merry, Kelvin Thomas, Mick Brown, Trevor Lambert, Graham Hilsdon, Bob Scholes and Chris Davis.
On the field
The Club is negotiating to keep Danny Rose until the end of the season. There is still a likelihood of a player(s) coming in and leaving before the transfer window closes on 31 January 2007. The Directors and management have been very concerned about the recent run of poor performances and are striving to turn things around. All coaching staff have had a role to play with the first team at the training ground. The number of injuries sustained by the players is not considered to be high. There have been few muscle strains and pulls which indicates a good level of fitness but the longer term injuries may now become a concern.
Stadium
The Club stated that it was in the final stages of making a substantial offer for the Stadium Company. It also felt it was unwise to estimate a timescale for completion of the negotiations which will follow.
Stadium maintenance
Regardless of negotiations to purchase the stadium, the Club promised to bring problems to the attention of the owner. OxVox will ensure those problems are gradually brought to the Club's attention, commencing the next home game.
Club accounts/AGM
The balance sheet is being finalised and the AGM is provisionally planned for April 2007. Kelvin Thomas confirmed he is now drawing a salary.
Plans for 2007/08
The Club confirmed that a contingency plan existed in the event that promotion was not achieved this season. The present management is committed to improving and maintaining the team's status. The Club's off-the-field fortunes continued to rise with the growth of the FITC and Soccer Course schemes.
Communication
In response to an OxVox request, a Fans Forum will be considered but this will not be in the next 2/3 weeks. The Club realised that a forum had always been an option and were coming round to the idea although its format had not been thought through. The Club remained appreciative of the support received of late when results had been poor
Smoking policy
The Club will, of course, abide by the regulations which come into force next July. A scheme operated at the Madjeski Stadium whereby a single manned external gate from each stand is opened at half-time for the benefit of smokers will be considered by the Club.
Next meeting
Provisionally arranged for Thursday 8 March 2007.
