OUFC-OxVox Meeting - 6 June 2005

Minutes

Present: Trevor Lambert, Sally Lambert, Helen Joslin, Chris Davis (OxVox), Nilu Kanani (OUFC).

Apologies: Mick Brown (at Football Combination meeting).

Minutes of last meeting (18 April 2005): Accepted.

Matters arising:

Ticket prices: While pleased that there had been no general price rise, OxVox expressed disappointment that prices for accompanied children over 6 outside the family area, and students had not been reduced. NK would pass on OxVox's suggestion for an extension to the Family Area.

Training ground: TL to follow up suggestion made at the last meeting.

Stadium maintenance: NK reported that action was being taken by the start of next season on many of the items on the list provided by OxVox, some jobs were complete; she would type up the details and pass them on. Asked to clarify Brian Talbot's remarks about the state of the dressing rooms, NK confirmed there would be a complete stadium clean. There was no budget for concourse painting; HJ may be able to help with manpower.

Signage:

1) Shop: OxVox felt many were unaware of the shop location. NK reported that the club were thinking of applying for planning permission for a mini-totem sign at the corner to indicate the location of the shop, bingo and gym.

2) Players' tunnel: TL passed a preliminary design for a sign over the players tunnel featuring the club crest and the wording 'Oxford United - Founded 1893'. CD confirmed OxVox committee would contribute to the cost. Neil Carter to liaise.

Supporters club ideas: TL passed on a proposal from OxVox to use Quadrangle facilities to create a supporters club environment for a trial period for the early league matches next season. Some OxVox members may be willing to help on the door occasionally on a rota basis. NK to pass the proposal on for consideration.

Milk Cup DVD: OxVox offers to help, e.g. by managing advance orders to demonstrate demand, and helping with publicity and awareness. NK would ask Lorna Gosling to contact us.

Fans forums: OxVox's view was that these needed to happen quarterly, but it was not essential for the Chairman to be at every one; every alternate one would be sufficient, the manager plus a club official to take questions on their area of expertise would be and adequate panel for the forums where the Chairman was not present. NK would pass on these comments

Party in the Park (28 August): OxVox would be prepared to run a joint stall with the club at this event.

AOB:

OxVox repeated the earlier offer to distribute fixture posters if they were produced.

NK reported in reply to a question from SL that the Chairman was talking to people about the post of chief executive but nothing had yet been settled.

The Craig Davis stories were paper talk so far as NK was aware.

OxVox requested permission to use part of the pitch for a 10-minute 5-a-side fans tournament final as pre-match or half-time entertainment at one of the pre-season friendlies; NK would seek a quick decision on this.
