Notes of OxVox meeting on Thursday 12 April 2007
Present: Trevor Lambert, Neil Carter, Graham Hilsdon, Jenny Cuff, Phil Fugle and Chris Davis.
Apologies for absence: Received from Martin Brodetsky, Bob Scholes, Tim Rosser and Ray Whittaker.
Matters arising
The Club accounts for year ending 30 June 2006 had now been published. Liabilities
totalled £2.5m and consisted mainly of £2.1m due to WPL and £0.38m deferred
income (2006/2007 season ticket sales.) The Trust will be represented at the
AGM on 2 May 2007.
There was general agreement to commemorating the Trust's 5th anniversary at
Porter's restaurant in Little Clarendon Street. A response had been received
from Porter's indicating that late June/early July would be the earliest we
could be accommodated. An availability response is awaited from the Club Directors
and Secretary.
Trevor had been interviewed on BBC Radio Oxford about the maintenance problems
at the stadium following our letter to the stadium and copied to the local media.
This had not produced any immediate improvement work. The intention is now to
seek a meeting with the Oxford Mail to establish their relationship with the
stadium company and reasons for not reporting our concerns.
The absence of a meeting with the Club means that a reply is awaited about the
Trust having a presence in the North Stand on 21 April 2007 ( sec note; now
agreed.) Junior membership packs will be available (existing junior members
have now received these) for new members.
Fundraising for sponsorship
The sale of mugs continues and a concerted effort will be made on 21 April to
sell more in the North Stand and again in the executive boxes. Trevor will consider
the idea of Christmas cards outside the meeting and report back. Chris will
gather material for a quiz night in the Autumn. The idea of incentives for members
introducing new members will be an agenda item in May along with a subscription
review. Subscription income overall is to be reviewed to ensure an agreed percentage
is allocated to sponsorship and good causes.
7-a-side football competition
The Trust is keen to arrange a second competition at Oxford Brookes campus and
believes this is best managed by a committee member overseeing the event organisation
with help from the rest of the committee as and when required.
Any other business
The Club will be invited to state its rules on granting testimonials.
A draft press release is to be circulated around the committee for comment/amendment
in view of the Club's intention to hold a forum on 24 April (sec note: now officially
26 April.)
A reminder that the next meeting has already been fixed for Monday 14 May 2007.
