Notes of OxVox Meeting on Thursday 15
February 2007
1. Apologies/Welcome
Apologies were received from Tim Rosser. Jenny Cuff and Phil Fugle were welcomed
to their first meeting since being elected at AGM/5.
2. Matters arising
5 new members were signed up at the desk on 03/02/07 following Bob's initiative.
The invitation to meet committee members will be repeated on 17/02/07.
A single stadium maintenance report has been made on 02/02/07and acknowledged
covering the area under the external stairs between the ticket office and the
SSU/SSL turnstiles. (sec. note 1: no action as at 17/02/07. Re- reported today
as a safety hazard.) Graham is also going to follow up with 2 fault reports from
the ES.
The meeting with the Club on 25/01/07 went smoothly. The minutes of that meeting
are recorded elsewhere and have been published.
The Trust's 5th anniversary is on 21/03/07. It is hoped to record this with a
member's event, possibly in May, and Neil is seeking costs of a river trip with
entertainment and involving Club officials.
3. Newsletter
The 12th issue is complete and will be sent to members over the weekend. (sec.
note 2: late contact from the Club indicated that a deal to buy the stadium company
had not been realised and that negotiations are continuing. These comments are
being inserted in a covering e-mail/letter to the newsletter.) The newsletter
will not be published on our web-site until 05/03/07.
4. Fundraising
The medal had finally been sold for £100. The previous bids were withdrawn when
it transpired that the medal, although genuine, was not one of the original 16
struck by the Canon Football League but was an extra paid for by the Club. Other
ideas for the future to be considered by the committee are: Affiliation scheme
or friends group, Auctions (again?) balloon competition, attending fetes, members
obtain new members, certificate of thanks for outside helpers, wheelbarrow race,
10 pin bowling contest, Bring and buy sale, Christmas cards, Darts marathon, Pub
games evening, Greyhound race night, Speedway night, sponsored head shaves, local
recipe book, Quiz night, scrabble tournament, snooker/pool competition, Welly
throwing competition, Lying contest, Brewery visit, Float in Lord Mayor's parade,
Garage sale, Sponsored goal-scoring, OUFC jigsaw, shave a balloon competition.
Several of these may be pertinent to the next OUFC Open day and the vast majority
were suggested by member Stan Taylor. There may be merit in many of them. In addition,
the framed signed shirt and mugs will be auctioned/sold.
5. Rule changes
Comments had been received back from Supporters Direct and the Partial Amendment
to the Rules forms had been obtained from the FSA. Further minor amendments may
be necessary at the next members' meeting.
6. Date of next meeting Confirmed as Monday, 12 March 2007
