PRESENT: Trevor Lambert, Martin Brodetsky, Neil Carter, Graham Hilsdon and Chris Davis. Martin Conway of the Anglo-Asian Association was a guest.
APOLOGIES for absence: Were received from Ray Whittaker, Stan Taylor, Tim Rosser and Paul Lowe.
MATTERS ARISING:
The Anglo-Asian Association is keen for groups of youngsters, mostly Bangladeshi and Pakistani, to become involved in local multi-racial sporting events. The Trust will consider ways it can help and gave details of a 6-a-side football tournament it was planning. Martin Conway will be kept informed of our deliberations.
Funds of £1000 to purchase shares had already accrued a small amount of interest. A working group to review the share register, select potential sellers and devise an initial letter to them will meet on Thursday 22 June.
The recent correspondence with the City Council about land ownership and planning conditions at Minchery Farm has been put into a question and answer format and e-mailed to those members who have the facility. This information will be included in the Newsletter, due for issue late June. A ?thank you? letter to Andrew Smith, MP, for the support he gave the Trust in March has been delayed in order that the Newsletter can be enclosed.
TREASURER'S UPDATE
The Trust has £4921 spread across 3 accounts. This month, membership is being renewed with Supporters Direct. The new OUFC account with the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society is not available to charities, organisations or clubs so the Trust cannot transfer any of its money to it. (Sec note: Mick Brown was not aware of this and is pursuing this matter with the Building Society. It seems odd that a supporters trust cannot invest money to benefit the Club in this way.)
MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY'S UPDATE
In Ray's absence, Trevor reported that 100 former members had been sent a letter in early June inviting them to renew their membership. The Trust currently has 225 members.
6 A SIDE FOOTBALL COMPETITION
2 pitches at Botley Road recreation ground (£300,) the café/kitchen (£100) and changing rooms (£20) have been provisionally reserved for Sunday 13 August. There were problems, however, in that this date could clash with a televised Conference fixture, perhaps involving OUFC, and also that public liability insurance could make costs prohibitive. Availability and costs of University managed all-weather pitches or indoor courts will be sought. Contact will also be re-attempted with Ross Clark who is obtaining equipment and trying to create interest.
ACTION FROM OUFC MEETING
The input of a proposal for bus routes was the most urgent topic and Mick Brown hastened this earlier in the day. The Trust will ensure route proposals are forwarded to the Club by 15 June.
Youth team sponsorship for 3 different age groups at £1250 was still available but will be considered at a later date. There was always the possibility that another sponsor would step in leaving the Trust free to target another OUFC activity requiring sponsorship.
The OUFC Fun Day has been scheduled for Saturday 8 July. We have already been asked if we can help and details will be sought. (sec note: contact has now been made with the Club confirming we can help and programme/agenda requested.)
NEWSLETTER
One article to be completed and is scheduled for this week, then issue can be formatted, printed where necessary, then e-mailed/despatched.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Guatelli's and Rawle's shirts plus Graydon's 1984 Division 3 Championship medal will be sold by a sealed auction subject to a reserved price being obtained. These will be advertised to our members and on TIU with a plan to announce the winners at the OUFC Fun Day.
