Carol Mankelow RIP

29th Jun 2023

Recently we lost a member of the Yellows family with the death of Carol Mankelow. We send our condolences to her family and friends.

Carol is pictured below at a Manor club lunch with the late Ron Slater and two staff of the Community Trust.

Carol’s son William offers this tribute to Carol, who many fans will know or have seen home and away:

Carol, my mum, was a true partisan of Oxford United. She pretty much went to everything OUFC. Whether it was the full senior team all over the country from Gateshead to Plymouth, Gillingham to Fleetwood, she loved nothing more than following her boys as she liked to call them, wherever they played, unless it was Portsmouth as she really didn’t like Fratton Park!

She also watched the youth teams play often, was a season ticket holder for the ladies team. Basically put, if it the team was in any way associated with Oxford United, she’d always endeavor to be there.

She loved her club. She felt the loses, and celebrated the wins, could never watch a penalty, and didn’t see the point in watching corners as we never score from them in her opinion. She missed players when they left, and welcomed every new arrival. Thought not an overly vocal fan, she was all 100% behind the team on the pitch, regardless of how they were playing, she saw herself as a supporter, nothing more, nothing less.
